Release IR - Day 1 v0.1 // Complete overhaul of the game
Hey guys,
I know that progress has been slow on the game and I know that I should've posted for frequently. The thing is that for quite a while now the direction in which IR went was something that bothered me. Which is why I decided to start from scratch.
The reasons for that are mainly that I increasingly hated the old model for Charlie and that some of the old renders were (by my standards today) very low quality. And also some of the decisions regarding the dialogue that I made back then really made me question what I did there.
So for the last few months I've worked on an overhaul of IR and while the version I'm releasing today is relatively small and not even close to what the full Day 1 Release will be, I hope you're going to like it. It was a lot of work to get everything exactly like I wanted and everyone who knows me can imagine that especially the coding of the new phone menu and gallery etc were quite the challenge and brought to the brink of insanity. I wish I was joking, but I'm really not.
Thankfully the renders were pretty straight forward for the most part. Some were a bit challenging, but not a huge problem either. Which was largely due to some people who helped me figure out what exactly was wrong, or who gave me tips on how I can improve them. Same goes for the coding by the way. I owe a lot of gratitude to two people in particular, celtic (rendering) and that weird old Grandpappy (coding), who always helped when I didn't know what was going on. That of course doesn't mean that I don't value everyone elses help. Without each and everyone of you I wouldn't have been able to pull this off (at least not like I had in mind).
So a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who helped.
But enough of the sentimental BS.
The new IR changed a lot, like I said above. And there's a hell of a lot more to come. Even though Day 1 v0.1 only has 183 images and only about 3300 words, I already have another 100 renders finished, which I could have added to the v0.1, but decided against it to have a little bit of a buffer, if I can't release anything for whatever reason.
As for what exactly changed:
Changelog Day 1 – 0.1
· Complete redesign of the game (including new model for Charlie)
· IR will now have two protagonists (Beth and Eva)
· Implemented a phone menu with different backgrounds (some need to be unlocked)
· Ingame walkthrough added (can be enabled and disabled in the phone menu)
· Cheats are now build in (you can change the variable for desire, love etc and can unlock all backgrounds)
· Gallery and Collectibles (in the phone menu)
· Introduction of a couple of new characters (like the precincts Captain and a few others)
· There are three options for the opacity of the textbox (100%, 50% and 0%)
Images: 183
Words: 3315
What’s left to do?
· A whole lot of renders to finish Day 1
· Add more essential characters to the Contacts screen in the phone menu
· Add a gaming section to the phone menu (to play little demos of games from other Devs)
· Messaging system
· Seamless switch from Beth to Eva and vice versa (with a button next to the phone menu)
So with all that in mind, I hope you guys like the new IR and as always if you have any feedback please let me know.
Oh and one more thing, starting with the next release I've decided to increase the price from $2.99 to $4.99. I know that sucks, but with all the assets I had to buy to be able to even make this version my cost to making the game nearly went through the roof. But for now it's still going to be available for $2.99 (probably for at least another 2 months).
best regards
Kinney
